Can we get married on site?

The events centre is a perfect one-stop wedding location. You can get married on the outdoor pergola and there are numerous picturesque spots on the 64 hectares of park where you can have memorable photographs taken. Meanwhile, your guests can relax and soak up the rural outlook from the veranda decks on the complimentary outdoor furniture.

Do you have a beverage list?

The events centre is one of the few venues in Whangarei where you can bring your own refreshments. There is a dedicated bar servery area adjacent the kitchen with glass fronted refrigeration cabinets. There is also a large walk-in chiller to keep your supplies cool. Liquor licensing laws apply if you intend to sell alcohol at your event and our staff can assist with any other queries you have related to this.

Do you provide catering?

The events centre has a fully equipped modern commercial kitchen which was purpose designed for catering any size function. Due to the variety of functions held at the events centre, we can provide you with a list of caterers who are very familiar with the venue and who can provide you with different menu options. We are also happy to arrange this on your behalf if you provide the requirements and budget you are working to. The events centre also allows you to self-cater if you want to.

How is the building heated?

Each room has its own heat pump/air conditioning unit so that you have total control over the temperature of the rooms that you are using.

How much is it?

Our prices vary depending on what sort of function you are having, how many rooms you use and what additional services and equipment you require. For a comprehensive quote, it is best if you contact us directly for prices.

What else is available?

There is a wide range of glassware, crockery and cutlery available. Depending on your style of function, this may be included in the hire price or these can be hired separately. We also provide fairy lights with a white curtain backdrop and complimentary table skirting for top/bridal tables. We also have black or white tablecloths and napkins and white chair covers with complimentary coloured sashes if required.

What is included in the hire?

In addition to the room hire, tables, chairs, all standard AV equipment and WI-FI is included in the hire price. Equipment on site includes flip chart holders, data projectors, screens, standard and electronic whiteboards, sound systems and microphones and a lectern.

Will there be anyone else using the Showgrounds?

Barge Showgrounds Maunu Reserve is a public area used by the community for walking dogs, children playing, athletics and equestrian events. While we hire the Events Centre Building, the Whangarei District Council looks after any bookings for the grounds.  This means that there may be other activities or users on the grounds when you are using the building. Grounds bookings are made through Recreational Services on 0800 265 000.
